  1. In the 21st century, amidst the chaos and destruction, there are people there in need. And people in pain, suffering. And people suffering from a disease or pain in their bodies can get help from medicines. Medicines were discovered by science, and I am going to convince you that scientific advancement is more valuable to society than artistic self expression. Artistic self expression can influence people to agree on your point, but scientific advancements can save lives, increase knowledge and understanding, and help everyone in this world. Scientific advancements help doctors and scientists protect our planet from incoming destruction. Think about the scenario of if we didn’t have scientific advancements – everyone standing up on stages, trying to convince people of different things. It is like elections all over again! And meanwhile, while we are either preparing speeches, talking on stage, or sitting in an audience, those meteors, pollution, climate change, and space impacts and disasters are working together to demolish our earth before our very eyes. Imagine hundreds of people in one auditorium, and then a ten thousand kilometres away, meteors and asteroids are hurtling towards our earth, destroying acres of land. Then on the other side of the planet, floods and hurricanes are throwing each other out into chaos. And we don’t have any scientific advancements or technology to help us. And then go back to the plus side where we have scientific advancements but not artistic self expression – people may not agree on things and get into arguments, yes, but we are all safe. There is not hundreds of people on the verge of death at the very moment. We will be, and are, safe with scientific advancements.

To begin with, scientific advancements are way more valuable to society than artistic self expression as they can save lives. When your best friend has fallen over on a rock, medicines – made by scientific knowledge and advancements – they take can help them get better and stop any viruses or diseases form developing or spreading through the body. When someone is in a horrendous accident or in abnormal pain, the power of science can help them. Science can make medicines and can help save people. As science advances, so does the helpfulness of medicines, and science saves lives. Scientific advancement is incontrovertibly more valuable to our amazing society than artistic self expression!

Likewise, scientific advancements can even increase knowledge and understanding! Ever heard of telescopes and rockets? They were created by science! And from that, we learnt all about the solar system and know in school you even have lessons on Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, and much, much more! There are even videos on them for you to learn! And ever since when telescopes where born – by science – most people’s knowledge has increased as they have learnt about space! Through science, people now know about DNA, molecules, atoms, animal languages, and something that has become really popular in today’s world – Artificial Intelligence! Nowadays people in everyday jobs use a now-everyday thing – Artificial Intelligence of course! If we did not have scientific advancement and focused on artistic self expression, we would never had experienced AI! We would not have the help of any of these machines, and we would basically be living in the 1800s!

I respect that artistic self expression can influence others on your points, and it can sometimes be a world changer, but scientific advancements can evolve the human civilization! We have evolved from prehistoric humans to people waking up to a phone alarm, going to work, and experiencing robots that can walk and talk! And no matter how less anyone thought that is not possible, we can evolve more. We have learnt all about animals, the human body, space, and the natural reactions of our planet, and become a better civilization – all achieved by scientific advancements.

Ultimately, scientific advancements are societally more valuable than artistic self expression as it can save lives, increase knowledge and understanding, and make us a better and more evolved civilization as a whole.

  2. Scientific advancement is clearly more valuable to society than artistic self-expression. It is not just about creating new gadgets and tools; it involves life-saving medicines to heal and patch up wounds. Haven’t you seen those wheezing patients, their lungs clogged up and their fingers trembling? Those people who still, miraculously, walked out of the doors of the hospital alive, despite all of the highly plausible possibilities that could have shattered this one. This was a miracle, but one that was caused by the science that created those pills which provided a second chance.

To begin with, these contributions are much more useful than artistic self-expression. Do you think that a dance with breathtaking leaps and spectacular twirls, no matter how incredible, could save a dying patient, coughing constantly and eyes swollen so much that they are almost shut, cheeks burning hot with fever? Of course not! The thing that can save them and return the vitality to their face, their cheeks and their overall being is medicine. You can’t make medicine by playing the piano, or painting, or drawing. Scientific advancement can forge these groundbreaking medicine to save lives, clearly highlighting the need to prioritise it.

Similarly, they can give us information we were never aware of. We all know outer-space and the Solar System, and stars and the moon and sun. However, have you ever thought about how these things came to our minds? They didn’t suddenly pop out from thin air; they were discovered by telescopes and rockets. If we did not focus on scientific advancement, it is possible that discoveries like these may never be known. Additionally, AI has become a prominent figure in our daily lives, and it was also created by science. This outlines the need for scientific advancement, as it can help us reach key milestones in terms of technological and information advancement.

While I believe that scientific advancement is a crucial part of modern society, I must acknowledge the shining argument that artistic expression is the final piece in becoming yourself. Although medicine is what lets you live, expressing yourself is how you can truly be happy, nourishing the spirit and soothing the mind. It completes the recovery process, fitting in like the final piece in a jigsaw. Yet for all of its revitalisting power, artistic self-expression is still the final step; without scientific advancement, you won’t make it long enough, let alone the final one. So even if artistic expression is powerful and essential in cracking open your shell to find you, it is no use without scientific advancement.
Ultimately, scientific advancement is the string that ties us together, the word that makes everything click into place, the lever that moves the very heart and traditions of our society. It is a necessity in our daily lives, and is what creates our whole world.

Art and Science: What Helps Us Most?

Art and science are two powerful parts of our world. They might seem very different, but they both help people in important ways. Art helps us feel things, share ideas, and connect with others. Science helps us stay safe, discover new things, and solve big problems. People use both every day, and together, they make life better.

Art is everywhere — in paintings, music, dances, books, and movies. It lets people show their emotions and ideas in creative ways. Art is not just about being pretty. It can send strong messages and help people feel brave or hopeful. For example, in a protest, people might sing songs that inspire others or carry signs with drawings that show what they believe in. Art can make people feel united, even if they are very different. It helps us understand each other and show support.

Art also teaches us about history, culture, and feelings. A book might help us imagine what life was like long ago. A movie might show how someone overcame a hard challenge. When we watch a play or look at a painting, we might feel the same feelings the artist felt. That’s the magic of art: it speaks without using facts, and instead touches our hearts.

Science helps people in different ways. It is about asking questions, testing ideas, and finding answers. Thanks to science, we have medicine, clean water, electricity, and technology. Science helps doctors treat sick people with medicine, and helped make vaccines to protect us from diseases like COVID-19. Without science, many people would not live as long or as safely as they do now.

Science also helps us learn about the world around us. We now know more about space, planets, animals, and our bodies. Telescopes let us see stars far away, and microscopes show us tiny cells that are too small to see with just our eyes. Because of science, we understand things like gravity, weather, and how plants grow. These discoveries make life easier, and they help us protect the Earth too.

But art and science don’t just work alone. Many things we use and enjoy need both. For example, a movie needs a camera, lights, and sound systems made by science — but it also needs actors, music, and a good story, which come from art. A video game has computer coding, but also cool designs and exciting stories. Even in schools, a science poster might use bright colors and fun drawings to help kids learn. This shows how art and science can be partners, not competitors.

So which one helps society more — art or science? It depends on what the world needs at the time. If there is a sickness spreading, science helps by creating medicine and vaccines. But if people feel sad or lost, art can help them feel better and bring them together. Both are important, and both have the power to change lives.

Art makes us feel, while science helps us live. We need both — to stay strong and to stay connected. Sometimes, science protects our bodies, while art protects our hearts. Society is better with both working side by side. That’s why we shouldn’t choose just one as more valuable, but celebrate how they help in their own special ways.

  4. Imagine you discovered a new world with unknown animal species or found a new type of bacteria. Scientists experiment and explore this as their career. This not only inspires the younger generation to explore the natural wonders of space but can save lives. I disagree that artistic self-expression is valuable to society than scientific advancement.

Firstly, it can solve our issues. We need to understand how things work and why it is occurring to fix it. For example, global warming is increasing because of the gas and burning of fossil fuels. When it was recognised in the community, people and organizations like EDF (Environmental Defence Fund) took action to reduce it.

Moreover, it can save lives by creating new medicines to reduce the risk of the patient’s death. In uncommon diseases, 95% of them don’t have any remedy and the total human diseases have around 96% that don’t have a definite one. We must continue to research for those who suffocate these medical issues.

Finally, it can inspire children. They can develop curiosity taking action to change the world while allowing them to experience fun activities. This could potentially be their job in the future. Therefore, scientific advancement is better and should be continued instead of artistic self-expression.

Inconclusion, artistic self-expression is not valuable to society than scientific advancement. Science can help our knowledge, and we continue to create and discover new solutions, encouraging youth to learn about it. Would you still rather art than branching out deeper into aspects of space, bacteria and more?

In the modern day, scientific advancements play an exponential role in the field of medical science, saving thousands of lives and paving the way for a better future. But the list of beneficial properties of scientific breakthroughs doesn’t still there, but carries on, vastly impacting today’s evolving technologies, potentially healing the fading Earth with renewable systems. Public health is also an essential factor that we must truly consider as one of the historical advancements that have been made for the better, saving lives and significantly lowering mortality rates and letting the doctors of tomorrow gain plentiful access to dozens of lifesaving medicines. These are feats that no self artistic expression could even replicate or surpass, though possible to be a remedy, medical advancements outweigh these benefits by improving health throughout every being in the world.

However, I certainly must concede the fact that no artwork or voice, however soothing or transcendent may ever save a child’s life. Just imagine, parents surrounding their child, his lips fading into an eerie pallid blue, his eyes slowing with each and every blink. His young chest heaves in struggle as asthma looms over his life, the suffocating presence of sorrow emanating through the room. No drawing however fixating and curing, can ever prevent this ongoing struggle whereas medicinal research has proven that it can instantly save lives with just one simple injection or vaccination. No parent would trade their beloved’s life for a painting that simply cannot fix the situation albeit considering the mesmerising effects. The child’s life would eventually be saved by the toil and hard work spent in the lab for scientists that sacrifice so much to make the world a better place.

Furthermore, scientific advancements have the power to invent new technologies that are groundbreaking and contribute heavily towards a more renewable future. Currently we all cherish our world, but as we speak, the world is plunged in darkness with pollution and crises plaguing the world. However, thanks to the field of scientific and medical advancements newer technologies are being developed to combat such problems and ongoing issues. Additionally, science has previously innovated and invented crucial technologies. Take for reference, penicillin, this life saving antibiotic aided substantially in the world wars, bringing relief and less need for imminent care but rather just one simple vaccination. This thoroughly proves my point as no artistic features can save lives on a large scale or save the world as we know it.

Moreover, artistic expression is unmatchable towards the countless aids that advancements bring in the medicinal field. Simply put, any artworks cannot bring relief of disease or serious pain but the inventions like the cannula can remedy previously thought cureless diseases. One small creation can lead to large scale life saving and aids in illnesses, but a portrait would simply entertain someone. One small change makes a big difference unlike art however transcendent and perfect. This is why undoubtedly, disease prevention is far more important than artistic self expression which only momentarily brings joy.

Therefore, artistic self expression falls short of the numerous benefits that medicinal advancements bring, whether it be technological advancements that save the world or lives, substantial economic growth from the health benefits therefore selling more. This is why scientific advancements are more valued than artistic expressions.

  6. When we look at the world, both art and science seem to shape our lives in powerful ways. Some people believe science is more valuable because it saves lives and helps us live longer. Others say that art is more important because it helps us feel, heal, and understand each other. I believe that while science is very important in moments of danger, artistic self-expression gives life deeper meaning and connection, something even science can’t provide on its own.
Many people argue that science is more valuable to society. They point to times when medicine has saved lives. For example, think of a young boy lying in a hospital bed, burning with fever, his small chest rising and falling as he struggles to breathe. Doctors rush in with medicine, and within hours, the fever fades. His mother cries with joy, holding his now-cool hand. These moments are made possible by science. People who believe in the power of science remind us of the past, when diseases like polio caused children to live inside heavy iron machines just to breathe. Now, thanks to vaccines, those machines are silent. These powerful memories make it clear that science helps people in ways that are easy to see and impossible to forget.
However, this view misses something important. After a person is saved by science, what comes next? A patient may lie in bed for weeks, alive but sad, staring at white walls in silence. This is where art steps in. A painting beside the bed, a soft song from the radio, a chance to draw with crayons, these simple things can fill a person with peace and hope. A woman who fought cancer my feel joy again only when she dances to her favourite music. A soldier with terrible memories might begin to heal when he paints what he cannot say out loud. Art reaches inside us, where medicine cannot go. It helps us feel human again. Science can save the body, but art heals the heart.
I must admit that in emergencies, science is more important. If someone is choking, a beautiful painting won’t help. If a child’s heart suddenly stops, no poem can bring them back. In these scary, painful moments, when someone’s face turns blue or their body shakes with fever, we need science. The parents in that room aren’t thinking about beauty or music. They’re praying for doctors, for medicine, for a miracle. And often, science delivers. It brings back breath, light, and life. In those moments, we owe everything to scientific discovery.
Still, when we look beyond those short, scary moments, art becomes just as necessary. Once the danger is gone, and the body is safe, we begin to ask, Why am I still here? What does my life mean? These are questions science cannot answer. A man who survived a heart attack might feel lost until he finds joy in painting the sunrise he thought he’d never see again. A child who was in a terrible car crash may find hope in writing poems about her dreams. Even survivors of great pain, like people who lived through war or loss, have found healing through songs, stories, and pictures. These forms of art help turn pain into something that can be shared and understood. Science may have kept the body alive, but art helps the person live again.
Think of life like a cup. Science builds the cup and makes sure it doesn’t crack. But art fills it, with colour, music, stories, and love. Without something inside, what’s the point of having a cup at all? We don’t live just to breathe or eat. We live to love, to dream, and to feel. That’s what art gives us.
In the end, art and science both matter. But while science helps us survive, art helps us understand why we survive. And that is what makes artistic self-expression not just helpful, but truly valuable to society.
