The High School Success Advantage
The foundations that set up everything that follows.
The transition into high school is one of the steepest jumps in a student’s academic life. New subjects, new expectations, new ways of thinking. The students who thrive aren’t necessarily the smartest, they’re the ones who built essential study skills, analytical writing, and conceptual understanding early. The Year 7 High School Success Program gives your child that foundation, taught by expert tutors who know exactly what high school demands.
Tailored support, real confidence, lasting results
20 weeks of live instruction across English, Mathematics, and Science. Each session is designed to build the skills, study habits, and confidence that turn capable students into high performers, the foundation for a bright academic future.
What Parents Tell Us
Sound familiar?
“Primary school was easy, high school is overwhelming”
The jump from primary to high school catches most families off guard. More subjects, more homework, more independence required. Students who don’t quickly build study skills, organisation, and analytical thinking fall behind, and catching up takes years.
“Their writing isn’t where it needs to be”
High school English suddenly demands thesis-driven essays, evidence integration, and sophisticated language analysis. Most Year 7 students arrive without these skills. We teach PETAL structure, selective quoting, and cohesive links from Day 1.
“Maths is starting to feel harder”
Algebra, equations, geometry. Year 7 maths introduces abstract thinking that students who only memorised procedures in primary struggle with. We build the conceptual foundations, not just the rules, so maths makes sense rather than just working sometimes.
“Science just feels random”
Body systems, periodic table, motion and energy, thermodynamics. Year 7 science covers an enormous spread. Without a framework to organise it, students memorise facts without understanding. We teach science as a way of thinking, connecting topics so they stick.
The Year 7 foundations don’t just affect Year 7. The study habits, analytical writing, and conceptual thinking built now compound across all six years of high school. Start strong, stay strong.
What Your Child Learns
Our carefully structured curriculum covers essential skills.
English & Writing, Monday 6-7pm
Thesis Writing, Creative Craft & Close Reading
Students engage with two contrasting novels that build the analytical and creative foundations of high school English. From thesis-driven essay structure to the sensory detail of creative writing, each week develops the skills that scale across the next six years.
- Novel Lenses: The Blue Cat by Ursula Dubosarsky and Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom by Lynda Blackmon Lowery
- Thesis Essays: PETAL structure, selective quoting, cohesive links
- Creative & Discursive Craft: Sensory setting, symbolism, emotional stakes
- Rapid-Fire SAQs & unseen text decoding
- Close reading of language: figurative techniques, voice, register
- Comparative reading between fiction and memoir
- Building the writing toolkit that scales into senior English
OutcomeStudents develop the writing fluency, analytical instinct, and reading confidence needed to thrive in high school English from Year 7 through to senior school.
Mathematics, Wednesday 6-7pm
Algebra, Trigonometry & Circle Geometry
The Year 7 maths curriculum introduces the abstract thinking that defines high school mathematics. We build the conceptual foundations first, then apply them under exam conditions, so students don’t just answer questions but understand the maths beneath them.
- Algebraic Fractions & Equations: Factorise, cancel, fractions on both sides, worded setups
- Inequalities & Applications: Number line solutions, graph links, mark-maximising steps
- Trigonometry (Right → Non-Right): Pythagoras, SOHCAHTOA, sine/cosine/area rules, ambiguity traps
- Linear Relationships & Simultaneous Equations: Gradient-intercept, intercepts, graphs, substitution/elimination
- Indices & Surds: Full laws, negative/fractional powers, rationalising, exponential equations by inspection
- Circle Geometry & Proof: 6 key theorems, tangents/chords/arcs, structured LHS → RHS reasoning
- End-of-Term Mixed-Topic Mock + Coaching
OutcomeStudents develop conceptual fluency in algebra, trigonometry, and geometry, the bedrock for every maths course that follows.
Science, Friday 6-7pm
Body Systems, Reproduction, Atoms & Energy
Year 7 science covers an enormous spread of topics. Without a framework to organise them, students memorise facts without understanding. We teach the connections between topics so science becomes a way of thinking, not just a list to memorise.
- Data Analysis for Exams: Accuracy, reliability, validity, fair tests, conclusions
- Body Systems & Homeostasis: Nervous system, reflex arcs, muscles/bones, stability mechanisms
- Reproduction: Asexual vs sexual, functions, advantages/disadvantages, organism examples
- Atomic Structure → Periodic Table: Models, protons/electrons/neutrons, groups/periods, trends, isotopes
- Earth & Rocks: Geological history, weathering/erosion/deposition, rock cycle, minerals & industry
- Motion & Energy: Distance-speed-time, vectors vs scalars, acceleration; PE ↔ KE, household electricity (kWh, safety, efficiency)
- Thermodynamics & Equilibrium: Systems, enthalpy/entropy, endo/exothermic diagrams, dynamic balance, spontaneity links
- Cumulative Mock Exam + Personalised Roadmap
OutcomeStudents develop a connected, exam-ready understanding of science that builds confidence across biology, chemistry, and physics.

Common Questions
Who is this program for?
The Year 7 High School Success Program is designed for students entering or in early high school who want to build strong academic foundations across English, Mathematics, and Science. It’s perfect for students who want tailored support to thrive in the transition from primary to high school, develop essential study skills, and build genuine confidence in their abilities.
How is this different from the High School Advanced Program?
The Success Program is foundational and tailored to support students as they navigate high school. The Advanced Program is for high-achieving students who want to push beyond the syllabus into elite-level thinking. Both run on the same template and quality of instruction, but the Success Program emphasises building confidence, study skills, and core competency, while Advanced pushes capable students into extension work.
What texts are studied in English?
This semester, students engage with two contrasting texts: The Blue Cat by Ursula Dubosarsky (a literary novel exploring identity and belonging) and Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom by Lynda Blackmon Lowery (a memoir of the American Civil Rights Movement). Together they build skills in both fiction and non-fiction analysis, with strong thematic and historical depth.
What if my child can’t make a session?
All sessions are live and recorded, available for review up to 2 weeks post-session to reinforce learning. Homework is accessible through the Scholarly LMS and tracked for completion. Success Coach support is available 7 days a week via WhatsApp, WeChat, Scholarly Ask, and phone, with answers within 24 hours.
How are classes delivered?
All sessions are live online classes, 60 minutes each, three times per week (English Monday, Mathematics Wednesday, Science Friday). Sessions are delivered via Zoom with interactive features (polls, chat, screen sharing). Recorded for catch-up. Parents have visibility into homework completion and progress through the Scholarly LMS.
What’s included beyond the live classes?
Percentile reports and detailed writing feedback to pinpoint gaps fast. Challenges and Awards that keep momentum high (every milestone earns points, badges, and prizes). 7-day Helpline for questions outside class time. Session replays for stress-free revision.
