Senior High School is a different academic universe.

Year 11 isn’t an extension of Year 10. It’s a different way of thinking. Mathematics moves from procedure to abstraction. Science stops being descriptive and becomes quantitative. English shifts from storytelling to argument and interpretation. Students who arrive unprepared spend Term 1 catching up, while their peers who built the foundations early are already focused on mastery.

Bridge the gap before school starts

HSB is a 20-week semester that teaches the exact skills students need to start senior school confident, prepared, and ahead. Real senior content, taught at senior pace, with teachers who know the curriculum.

Sound familiar?

“They were a top student, now they’re struggling”

Year 10 reports were glowing. Then Year 11 hit and suddenly there’s confusion, low marks, and lost confidence. The truth: senior content moves at a pace school can’t slow down for, and students who arrive without the foundations get left behind in week 2.

“Maths suddenly doesn’t make sense”

Functions. Radians. Limits. Differentiation. These are senior concepts that build on each other rapidly. Miss the first two weeks and the rest of the year is built on sand. HSB teaches every senior maths foundation in a controlled, paced environment with worked examples and practice.

“Science feels like a foreign language”

Senior science is not “what is the cell?” anymore. It’s stoichiometry, mole calculations, velocity-acceleration graphs, dilution equations. Students who never built quantitative reasoning skills in junior science suddenly need to do calculations in every question.

“Essays don’t get high marks anymore”

The five-paragraph essay that worked in Year 10 stops working in Year 11. Senior English wants thesis sophistication, critic integration, conceptual phrasing, comparative analysis. Most students don’t learn this until they’ve already lost marks for not having it.

Senior school doesn’t pause for students who aren’t ready. The Year 11 curriculum is designed assuming a strong Year 10 foundation, an assumption that increasingly doesn’t hold. HSB closes that gap deliberately, before Term 1 of senior school begins.

Three subjects. Real senior content. Taught before school does.

Mathematics, Wednesday 6-7pm

Functions, Trigonometry & The Calculus Foundation

Senior High School Mathematics is a different language. We teach it before school does.

  • How functions actually work, domain, range, notation, vertical line test
  • Polynomials, factor theorems & long division
  • Radian measure & unit circle mastery
  • Trig graphing, amplitude, period, phase shift
  • Solving trig equations using identities
  • Calculus from the ground up, limits, first principles & differentiation rules
  • Real applications, tangents, normals & curve sketching
OutcomeStudents walk into Senior High School already fluent in the core ideas of Advanced Mathematics.
Science, Friday 6-7pm

Chemistry, Physics & Biology Foundations

Senior science is not memorisation. It’s quantitative thinking. HSB builds the formulas, reasoning, and mathematical skills every senior student needs.

  • The Mole concept, stoichiometry & limiting reagents
  • Interpreting motion using velocity/acceleration graphs
  • Constant acceleration (g) & displacement calculations
  • Empirical vs molecular formulas
  • Cellular respiration & photosynthesis, inputs, outputs, energy yield
  • Molarity, concentration & dilution formulas
  • Exam-style scientific problem-solving
OutcomeStudents prepare for Senior High School with real confidence across Physics, Chemistry & Biology.
English & Writing, Tuesday 6-7pm

Analytical and Creative Writing Skills through Frankenstein

Senior High School English moves from storytelling to argument and interpretation. Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is studied as both a literary text and a model of compositional craft. HSB trains students to think, analyse and write at Band 6 level from Day 1.

  • Novel Study: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
  • Gothic conventions and the Romantic intellectual context
  • Frame narrative and the architecture of unreliable storytelling
  • Character analysis: Victor, the Creature, and the ethics of ambition
  • How to analyse unseen texts using Cause → Consequence → Meaning
  • Advanced creative writing structures (ECHO → BEND → SUSTAIN → TRANSFORM)
  • Comparative analysis formulas for fast synthesis
  • Essay architecture, critics integration & high-level thesis upgrades
  • Short answer skills, quote clusters, high-order verbs, conceptual phrasing
  • Discursive writing frameworks used by top HSC students
OutcomeStudents prepare for senior English with the confidence and intellectual toolkit needed for Band 6, anchored in a foundational literary text they can return to throughout HSC.

The advantage that compounds across all of Year 11.

Senior school is fast. Marks are cumulative. The decisions made in Term 1 of Year 11 set the ceiling for the next two years. HSB gives your child the head start that makes all the difference.

🎯

Bridges the exact skill gap

Targeted at the specific concepts that trip up Year 11 students in the first eight weeks of senior school.

📚

Teaches senior content before school begins

By the time Term 1 of senior school starts, your child has already seen the material once, in a controlled setting.

🧭

Removes confusion at the start

No more “I don’t get it” panic in week one. Students arrive knowing what radians, mole calculations, and conceptual phrasing actually mean.

Builds habits and confidence early

Senior-level study habits, note-taking, problem-solving, and analysis are learned in low-stakes mode before they matter for marks.

🏆

A powerful advantage across Maths, Science & English

While other students are still trying to understand what’s being taught, your child is already practising, refining, and consolidating. That gap widens fast.

Common Questions

Who is this program for?
High School Bridging is designed for students entering Senior High School, typically Year 10 students preparing to start Year 11. The content covers the foundational senior concepts in Mathematics, Science, and English that schools begin teaching in Term 1 of Year 11. Students who complete HSB enter senior school already familiar with the material.
My child is already a strong student. Do they really need this?
Strong Year 10 students benefit the most. Senior content moves at a pace that even top students find demanding when they encounter it for the first time. HSB gives strong students the opportunity to engage deeply with the material in a low-pressure environment, building genuine mastery rather than rushed comprehension. The best Year 11 students are often the ones who saw the content before school did.
Does HSB align with a specific NSW curriculum?
Yes. The Mathematics content aligns with Advanced Mathematics (Year 11), Science covers foundations applicable across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and English aligns with Standard and Advanced English Year 11 with a focus on the analytical and creative skills required for Band 6 performance.
What if my child can’t make a session?
All sessions are recorded and available through the Scholarly LMS, so students can catch up on their own schedule. Homework is also accessible online and tracked through the LMS. Success Coach support is available 7 days a week via Telegram and WhatsApp for questions outside of class time.
How are classes delivered?
All sessions are live online classes, 60 minutes each, three times per week. Sessions are delivered via Zoom with interactive features (polls, chat, screen sharing). Weekly homework is tracked through the Scholarly LMS, and parents have visibility into completion and progress.

Start senior school already ahead.

Year 11 is one of the most important years of your child’s academic life. The students who succeed are the ones who arrived prepared. HSB makes sure your child is one of them.
