Who is This Program For?

This program is designed for Year 3 students who are beginning formal creative and persuasive writing and need clear structure, guided practice, and feedback over a focused 5-day Zoom program. It is particularly ideal for students who are encountering challenges in the following areas:

• Story Building & Narrative Structure: Finding it hard to turn ideas into a complete story with a clear beginning, middle, and ending. Students may struggle to organise events, use a problem–solution pattern, or keep the story focused on one main idea.
• Character and Setting Development: Having difficulty creating interesting characters and vivid settings. Many students write very simple people and places, without descriptive details that help the reader imagine what is happening or why it matters.
• Persuasive Ideas and Reasons: Unsure how to express an opinion and support it with strong reasons. Students may list random points, repeat the same idea, or forget to use simple persuasive techniques like emotive words, “because” reasons, and clear calls to action.
• Sentence Control & Vocabulary Choices: Struggling to write complete sentences that make sense and flow. This includes over-reliance on “and,” very short or repetitive sentences, limited adjectives and verbs, and difficulty choosing precise words to create impact.
• Writing Stamina, Planning and Confidence: Finding it challenging to plan quickly, keep writing for the whole task, and stay calm when given a time limit. Students may start well but lose focus, rush at the end, or feel anxious when they see a blank page or a timer.
