Week 2 Writing Homework

Writing Prompt: Write a short descriptive piece (150–200 words) about stepping into a secret garden you’ve discovered. Use the Sensory Zoom technique to describe the garden with one sentence for each sense (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste), creating an immersive scene. Focus on precise vocabulary and figurative language to make the garden feel unique and enchanting.

Include each of the five senses (sight, sound, smell, touch, taste). Include at least one metaphor or simile to enhance one sensory description. Use sensory counterpoint (e.g., pair a delicate sensation with a dangerous or contrasting one).

Choose precise, ambitious vocabulary (e.g., “iridescent” instead of “shiny”). Create an emotional effect (e.g., awe, curiosity) tied to the sensory details.

  1. I walked into a mysterious air lift that took me to a beautiful block of land that had flowers everywhere. I had walked into a secret garden high above the clouds that were hovering above my local park. As I walked into the garden I saw the plants bursting with colour, smell the signature scent of all the flowers combined and I could hear the gentle buzzing of the bees. The garden was divided into two equal parts. One of them was only growing food. here included carrots, potatoes, spring onion and lettuce as well as fruit trees like apple trees, orange trees and a mango tree. There were also bushes like strawberry bushes, blueberry bushes, and raspberry bushes. The other section of the garden was colourfully decorated with flowers. There were flowers placed in rainbow order and there were flowers of every type from all over the world.before i could examine the garden further, a green monster with razor sharp claws appeared. “Get out of my garden or else!” Cried the monster. I did what I was told and walked towards the edge of the garden. I was unsure what I needed to do to get down so I jumped off the edge. While falling, a mysterious force slowed me down and dropped my right where i had been forced up.
