⚠️ The Problem Nobody Talks About
English Advanced is the only compulsory HSC subject. And your child’s school isn’t teaching them how to write about it.
Your child got into a top school. They’re brilliant at maths. But English? The teacher writes “needs more analysis” and nobody explains what that actually means. They need more than a big classroom and vague feedback. They need a tutor who can see exactly where they’re stuck — and fix it in real time.

🧠 “They’re top 10% in maths — but can’t structure an essay”
Your child scored in the 95th percentile on the selective placement test. But school English feels like a mystery: the rubric is vague, the feedback is unhelpful, and nobody teaches them how to actually write analysis. They’re getting 65–75% in English while pulling 85–95% in everything else. In a group of 30, the teacher can’t give them the individual attention they need. In a group of 8, your tutor can.
❌ “The teacher says ‘analyse more deeply’ — what does that even mean?”
Your child’s English report says things like “develop your argument” or “engage more deeply with the text.” But nobody shows them what that looks like at the paragraph level. What is IQTVE? How do you apply PETAL? In English Studio, your tutor reviews your child’s actual writing in real time — not a generic model response, but their essay, their weaknesses, their breakthroughs.
📉 “Their report is slipping — and a big classroom isn’t fixing it”
You’ve tried tutoring centres with 20–30 students per class. Your child sat quietly, took notes, and their marks didn’t change. That’s because analytical writing isn’t learned passively. It’s learned by writing, getting specific feedback, rewriting, and being pushed by a tutor who knows your child’s exact weaknesses. That’s what English Studio delivers — every week, in a group small enough for real, personalised attention.
🤖 “They’re using ChatGPT and losing their natural voice”
Students who rely on AI tools like ChatGPT produce generic, voice-less analysis that HSC markers penalise. In English Studio, your tutor hears your child’s analytical voice developing in real time — and guides it. The Essay Clinic sessions give your child 1:1 feedback on their school assessments, building their real voice, not a borrowed one.
😤 “English is subjective — there are no right answers”
This is the biggest myth in education. English has a clear rubric with specific criteria. A Band 6 essay identifies techniques, explains their effect with precision, and links them to a sustained thesis. That’s a system. We teach the system. And in a group of 8, every student gets the individual coaching to master it.
✦ Why English Studio?
Everything Writing Wizards offers — plus the personalisation that changes results.
Writing Wizards teaches the system. English Studio teaches the system to your child specifically — with live Zoom, a pre-enrolment diagnostic, 1:1 Essay Clinic sessions, and a group small enough that Your tutor knows every student’s strengths and weaknesses by name.

⚠️ Is your child using ChatGPT for English? That’s the problem.
→ ChatGPT doesn’t know the NESA marking criteria. It writes for comprehensiveness, not analysis.
→ It produces generic, voice-less writing. HSC markers reward originality and personal engagement — the opposite of AI output.
→ Students who rely on AI never develop their own analytical instinct. They can’t write under exam conditions.
→ In English Studio, your tutor develops your child’s real analytical voice through live interaction, real-time feedback on their actual writing, and 1:1 Essay Clinic sessions that build genuine skill.

❓ Frequently Asked
Common questions from parents.
How is English Studio different from Writing Wizards?
Writing Wizards is a live LMS class with a larger group — great for learning the analytical system. English Studio is a small-group live Zoom experience (max 8 students) with a pre-enrolment diagnostic, 1:1 Essay Clinic sessions, live workshopping of your child’s actual writing, and a parent-teacher call each term. It’s the difference between learning the system and having the system personalised to your child.
What is the Essay Clinic?
Two 30-minute 1:1 sessions per month where your child works directly with their tutor on their writing. They can bring school assessment drafts, practice essays, or course work. Your tutor provides line-by-line feedback, thesis restructuring, and technique coaching — like having a private tutor on retainer, included in the programme fee.
What is the pre-enrolment diagnostic?
Before your child starts, they complete a writing assessment that Your tutor reviews to identify their specific analytical gaps. This means from Day 1, Your tutor knows whether your child struggles with technique identification, thesis construction, evaluative language, or argument structure — and targets their specific weaknesses from the first session.
Is this a pre-recorded course?
No. Every class is live on Zoom with Your English Studio Tutor, who scored 98 in HSC English and is studying Medicine at UNSW. Max 8 students, cameras on, real-time interaction. Recordings are available for 2 weeks after each class.
Can my child bring their school assessment tasks to the Essay Clinic?
Yes — that’s exactly what it’s for. The Essay Clinic sessions are designed for your child to bring whatever they’re working on at school, whether it’s a practice essay, an assessment draft, or a piece they’ve received vague feedback on. Your tutor provides specific, actionable feedback aligned to school and NESA rubrics.
How much time per week does it require?
Approximately 3–3.5 hours: 90 minutes for the live Zoom class, 45–60 minutes for homework, plus one 30-minute Essay Clinic session every two weeks. All homework is submitted typed and receives detailed feedback within 1–3 days.
