Course Details
The HAST (Higher Ability Selection Test) is distinct from regular selective school exams. It comprises four main components: Reading Comprehension, Mathematical Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning, and Written Expression. Each of these subjects tests the student’s ability to think critically, solve problems, and express themselves effectively.
While regular selective school exams focus primarily on curriculum-based content, the HAST exam emphasises a student’s higher-order thinking and aptitude. This difference makes HAST a unique challenge, requiring specialised preparation.

I have overcome diminishing OC English result of 40% to get into James Ruse with 100% in English through determination and hard work. The main challenge personally regarding the selective test was English and Writing which I overcame with lots of help from Scholarly and Steve. Getting full marks in English and 97% in Maths was mainly achieved from a large quantity of hard and challenging practice which made Selective English and Maths personally quite easy for me.
