Year 7 SEAL entry is decided in 11 weeks of focused preparation.

The Victorian SEAL test is short, dense, and weighted heavily toward writing. Most candidates are drilled on maths and reasoning. The students who win SEAL offers are the ones who built a repeatable writing structure before exam day, because written expression is the section most programs skip, and the one where the marks compound.

EduTest-aligned. Writing-led. Year 6 focused.

11 weeks of two-class-a-week preparation, drilling the reasoning paper your child will sit AND the writing component every other program neglects. Starts 23 May, finishes 1 August, the same Saturday many SEAL schools test.

Sound familiar?

“They’ve done maths drills, but never written under exam pressure”

Most prep stops at multiple-choice practice. SEAL’s writing task is a single short prompt with no second chance. Students who haven’t drilled a structured response under 15 to 20 minute timing freeze on the day. We teach a repeatable frame and run it weekly.

“We’ve left it too late, the exam is in 10 to 16 weeks”

SEAL exams run between 24 July and 29 August 2026 depending on the school. From late May, your child has 10 to 16 weeks of real preparation left. The intensive is built around that exact window, no warm-up, no fluff, no padding.

“My child is bright, but writing isn’t their thing”

This is the single most common pattern. Strong reasoning, weak written expression. EduTest’s writing section rewards structure over flair, so a child who knows the frame outperforms a child who relies on natural talent. We teach the structure.

“Other tutors don’t really cover the SEAL test format”

Most general tutoring drifts back to school curriculum. SEAL prep needs to be specific, paper-based EduTest format, five sections, written expression in a 15 to 20 minute window. We coach the test as it actually appears, with full mock papers in the final weeks.

Most SEAL coaching is a generic reasoning class. Ours is built around the specific paper your child will sit, with writing treated as the highest-leverage component, because that’s where the margin is.

Two classes. Each one earns its place.

Class 1, SEAL Exam Prep, Saturday 10 to 11am

The EduTest-style SEAL paper, all five sections.

The reasoning paper your child will actually sit. Drilled section-by-section across the full 11 weeks, with mock papers in the final two weeks.

  • Verbal reasoning, word relationships, analogies, logic with language
  • Numerical reasoning, number sequences, ratios, quick non-calculator arithmetic
  • Reading comprehension, literal, inferential, and tone-based questions
  • Mathematics, curriculum-plus topics: fractions, algebra readiness, geometry, problem solving
  • Pattern recognition under time pressure
  • Question triage and elimination strategy
  • Full mock papers in the final two weeks, marked, reviewed, re-attempted
OutcomeStudents walk into exam day already fluent in the test shape, the pacing, and the question types that show up every year.
Class 2, English/Writing, Wednesday 7 to 8pm

The 20% that decides results, written expression.

Written expression is one short, high-stakes task. We coach a repeatable structure that holds up under 15 to 20 minutes of pressure, the single highest-leverage area for SEAL scoring, and the one most programs skip.

  • Narrative, persuasive and expository writing
  • A repeatable writing frame, drilled weekly until automatic
  • Comprehension under timed conditions
  • Vocabulary, inference and tone
  • Editing and structure routines
  • Weekly marked writing tasks, with feedback
  • Live weekly English/Writing class
OutcomeStudents walk into the writing section with a frame they have used 11 times under exam timing. The writing carries them, not the other way around.

Pick the cohort that matches your school.

The 11-week intensive serves all three windows. The closer your exam, the less room there is to wait.

10 to 11 weeks

Late July, Urgent Cohort

For families whose target school exam is in the final week of July.

  • Brighton Secondary College, 24 Jul
  • Warrnambool College, 25 Jul

No slack. Start week of 23 May. Every session counts.

11 to 13 weeks

Early August, Primary Target

The largest cohort. The 11-week intensive lines up almost exactly with this exam window.

  • Albert Park College, 1 Aug
  • Gleneagles Secondary College, 1 Aug
  • St Francis Xavier College, 1 Aug *
  • Victoria University Secondary, 6 Aug

Best fit for the full 11-week program. Mock exams land in the final two weeks before your test.

15 to 16 weeks

Late August, Extended Prep

Extra runway between end of intensive and exam day, used for mock-paper drilling and writing refinement.

  • Bentleigh Secondary College, 27 Aug
  • Pascoe Vale Girls’ College, 29 Aug

Run the 11 weeks, then a light maintenance block of weekly mocks until exam day.

The advantage that compounds across the final 11 weeks.

SEAL is decided in the test room. The students who win are the ones who walked in already fluent in the paper. This intensive is built around that single goal.

🎯

EduTest-aligned, paper-shaped prep

Drilled section by section across all five EduTest areas your child will sit, with full mocks in the final two weeks.

✍️

Writing treated as the 20% that decides results

A dedicated weekly English/Writing class. A frame your child will use 11 times under exam timing before the real test.

📅

Built around the actual exam window

The 11 weeks end on Saturday 1 August, the same Saturday many SEAL schools test. Late-July and Late-August cohorts get a perfect runway either way.

🧭

Two classes, not one

Reasoning and writing each get their own hour, with their own teacher and their own marking loop. No more “we covered writing for ten minutes at the end.”

🏆

Small groups, live, no recordings replacing instruction

Every session is live, every writing piece is marked, and every mock paper is reviewed in class. The program is built so a Year 6 student can actually feel the gap close, week by week.

Common Questions

Who is this program for?
The 11-Week SEAL Intensive is designed for current Year 6 students sitting Victorian SEAL and accelerated-learning entrance exams for Year 7 2027 entry. Exams run from late July through to late August 2026, and the program is built around that window with both reasoning and writing preparation in two classes a week.
How much does the 11-week intensive cost?
$900 total for the full 11-week program, both classes a week, mock papers, and weekly marked writing tasks included. Email Steve to confirm payment options.
When are the actual SEAL exams?
For 2027 Year 7 entry, most Victorian SEAL and accelerated-learning entrance tests run between 24 July and 29 August 2026. See the Schools and Dates table above. Always confirm with each school.
Do I have to take both classes?
The $900 program is designed as both classes together, that’s how the 80/20 split is built. Email Steve if a single-class option is the only fit, we’ll see if we can accommodate.
My child’s exam is on Saturday 1 August. Won’t they miss the final class?
Yes, the final mock session is on Saturday 1 August 2026, which is also exam day at Albert Park, Gleneagles, and St Francis Xavier. Families enrolled at those schools will sit their real exam that morning instead. The 10 weeks of preparation leading up to that day are the point, the final session is a maintenance mock for families whose exam is later in August.
What if our target school uses a different test?
Most Victorian SEAL schools use EduTest, with a handful using SEAL Academy or in-house tests. The reasoning, comprehension, and writing skills we teach transfer across all of them. The core 5-section structure is consistent across the major providers.
What about St Francis Xavier College?
We’ve listed St Francis Xavier as a target family cohort reference because exact 2026 SEAL test dates are best confirmed school-side. Please check the school directly before relying on the date shown above.
How are classes delivered?
Both classes run inside the Scholarly Learning Platform, fully live, 60 minutes each. Students see the lesson, interact with the teacher, submit writing tasks for marking, and access homework, model responses, and recordings, all in one place. No separate links to track down, everything sits in one student dashboard.
What if my child misses a Saturday?
All sessions are recorded and available through the Scholarly Learning Platform. Homework is tracked there too, and Success Coach support is available 7 days a week via Telegram and WhatsApp for questions outside class time.

You have 10 to 16 weeks. Use them.

Two classes a week. Reasoning, maths, reading, and the writing component most programs forget. The students who win SEAL offers are the ones who started 23 May with a plan.
