Selective Practice Test: Free Tool To Boost Performance & Reduce Anxiety

In a detailed paper on how to reduce test anxiety, The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) noted:

“The more you are accustomed to sitting for a period of time, answering test questions, and pacing yourself, the more comfortable you will feel when you actually sit down to take the test.”

They’re not the only ones to have pointed this out. The official NSW government website says this too, “students will be more comfortable with the test process if they are familiar with the types of questions they may be asked.”

In line with this philosophy, we’ve developed a free Selective Trial Test to assess each student’s capabilities better.

  1. What is the Structure for The Selective Practice Test?

The Selective diagnostic/sample test is a 30-minute online assessment aimed at evaluating a student’s skills in the following areas:
       – English (Poetry, Fiction & Evaluation) – 15 Questions

       – Maths (Number & Algebra, Measurement, Geometry) – 15 Questions

       – Thinking Skills (Pattern recognition, verbal reasoning, spatial understanding) – 15 Questions

The test can be accessed  here: https://scholarlytraining.com/nswdiagnostic

The more you are accustomed to sitting for a period of time, answering test questions, and pacing yourself, the more comfortable you will feel when you actually sit down to take the test.

  1. Who Can Take The Selective Practice Test?

This diagnostic test is tailored for Year 5 and Year 6 students who are planning to sit for the Selective Test in 2024 or 2025.

  1. Why Is It Important to Take the Selective Practice Test?

Taking the Selective practice test/diagnostic test offers several key benefits:

Identifying Strengths and Weaknesses: It helps pinpoint areas where students excel and where they need more focus, leading to more effective study strategies.

   – Familiarisation with Test Format: The test introduces students to the structure and types of questions they will encounter, aiding in reducing stress and improving time management for the actual exam.

   – Benchmarking Progress: It acts as a benchmark for monitoring academic growth, essential for strategising study plans.

   – Enhancing Test-Taking Skills: It improves overall skills required for test-taking, including problem-solving and concentration in a timed environment.

   – Boosting Confidence: Familiarity with the test format and understanding their current standing can significantly enhance a student’s confidence.

  1. How Should You Assess The Selective Trial Test Performance?

To effectively assess a child’s performance in these tests, compare their scores with both the average and top scores of their cohort. A score above the average is generally indicative of a strong performance.

  1. When Will I Receive The Selective Practice Test Results?

Our team will get in touch with you and send across the performance report for the Selective practice test within a few days after your child completes the test.

  1. Who Can I Discuss The Selective Practice Test Results With?

An academic advisor will be available for consultations about your child’s results and further guidance. You can book a discussion at: https://scholarlytraining.com/whatsapp
