ryankhov – DAY 3
Visualise a world where people desperately are trying to get to shelters to stay cool. Envision a world where you can’t even go outside for one second without facing the consequences of choking in the humid and unbearable air. Well if we don’t stop polluting this planet then one day in the future this might be a harsh outcome that Earth could face. We need to take action for our responsibilities! So here are a few ways that we can help Earth not turn into Venus.
We need to hold our friends and family accountable for littering. It may not seem like a big thing that can affect us but trust me in windy places the rubbish can quickly go to an animal and they can get choked. Are you cruel enough to kill an animal because you don’t care about where your rubbish goes? You might ask: “ Hey Samyar, the place that I live in isn’t really windy, why should I care?” Well in most regions of the world, littering is ILLEGAL! So you can get fined or potentially serve community service. Do you want to be fined over such a small thing? Probably not if you do not care then you’re probably just a rich snob.
Another thing that can help the planet is using reusable bags when going shopping or just in general. Well you don’t have to use recyclable bags you can just reuse plastic bags if you don’t have any recyclable bags. Do this because if you just throw away your plastic bags then it will take longer to biodegrade and if a lot of people are throwing away plastic bags at the same time then more plastic bags are built up in landfills. You might ask “Why is that even relevant to me in any way?” Well if plastic bags do build up then they will occupy more area and that area can be used for useful things. But that’s not the reason it’s relevant to you. The reason is that plastic overtime, will grow stinky and if your city has a lot of plastic then say goodbye to the aroma of nature as the malodorous smell of industrialisation slaps you back to reality.
Multiple studies have concluded that more than 78% of all pollution is caused by manufacturers. So to all companies that aren’t using something sustainable you’ll be the ones that will get sent complaints by people when the air becomes humid and unbearably hot in the future. Do you want people to stop using your products because you decided not to comply with regulations that made sure Earth would not walk right into the sinister tricks of climate change?
To conclude my speech make sure that you are following all of these rules if you don’t want Earth to become hotter than the surface of the sun. All of these regulations are in place so that we as a society can live in the future and this will give us a chance to see if we can all work together to save this planet.

Climate change
Envision one of your favourite gardens, with all its greenery discoloured, the grass feeling as if they are blades slightly pressing into your feet with each passing moment, with the trees which once used to be a big lush of leaves now just a pile of dead, insignificant branches, the sky as fogged as evaporated water can be. The calm and affluent smell replaced with a noxious odour. This isn’t just any daily nightmare, but it’s where Earths future is headed if humans keep up the bad deeds they are doing by air polluting.
If you look deeper into air pollution or climate change you will find it has became a sizeable problem, just in the gist of 2024 37.5 billion tonnes of CO2 were released from fossil fuels with and outstanding 41.6 billion tonnes more released from from households. Climate change effects more than you know, its not just bad for animals and humans but it damages polar ice caps causing them to melt, another important thing is that climate change affects the ozone layer, there is already a huge hole in Australia’s ozone layer, why make it worse?
I’m sure no one here wants earth to become a fiery ball of detrimental greenhouse gasses where no sign of life exists? Well let’s start early, and teach younger generations to become a better version of over selves. Every type of pollution takes part in climate change, we humans don’t know the real power of Mother Nature so it’s better not to underestimate it.
If we all start making progress, start picking up rubbish we see, start participating in town clean ups, start switching to electric cars and using less smoke we may stand a chance in reverting all the mistakes we’ve committed over the years.
Just imagine a world where climate change is extinct, and the sun smiles down beautifully on the grass with the birds chirping, trees singing the air smelling as clean as ever.
Finally, I conclude that climate change is something the humankind can prevent if we put effort before it’s to late.

Invincible – DAY 3
Close your eyes. Envision a world where heat is endless, temperatures skyrocketing as deserts conquer Earth, lethargy seizing your body as an incessant grogginess infects your being due to humid atmospheres. Envision a world where the constant whirr of air filters replaces the chirping of birds as you feel the firm concrete beneath your feet that was once the squelch of wet grass. Open your eyes. This scenario we imagine is not a mere concept, but a reality that is yet to come. Every choice you make impacts the chance of this dystopian future. Today, our earth may become a planet where life ceases to exist as we stand on the threshold of disaster. The footsteps of current humans walk in the direction of no return. Students and teachers, how can you be okay knowing that our earth will be purged with an eternal heat that roams in every corner? How can you be okay knowing that your only lifelines will become artificial air and air conditioning? As of now, 2 out of 3 Australians will suffer from skin cancer at one point in their life. What will we do once this becomes universal? Species die daily, eradication of everyday animals a possibility that isn’t to be brushed off. As the land becomes hotter, the fruits and vegetables we love will also die. The concepts of climate change’s impacts are no longer concepts as they are already happening, and the future isn’t far away from the present.
Our natural world is being affected day by day. The kookaburras that sing in the morning as you eat your breakfast? They, too, will become endangered as our land becomes drier. The Australia we know, the green areas that accompany the deserts, will all be overridden and will become one whole arid region. “What about the Great Barrier Reef?” You may ask. Studies from the Climate Council have already recorded bleaching events of the reef in 2016 and 2017 and found that the same bleaching events were 175 times more likely to happen again. The Great Barrier Reef as we know it may cease to exist, along with the fauna that surrounds it as they will die a slow yet agonising death. To understand how drastic this problem is, take Australia’s 2020 bushfires as an example. Habitats of billions of animals were burnt to the ground, their extinction inexorable. Every animal plays a part in the environment, the eradication of these species further withers our natural world as even the tiniest of things, such as pollination and natural compost make an impact. However, with the rate of how things are going, the future environmental imbalance is palpable. Our nature is being affected, and you cannot deny it.
The damages to the natural world will also impact our agriculture. The fruits and vegetables you and I love may not even exist due to the destruction of climates. Fruits that grow in tropical climates, such as mangoes or even bananas won’t exist as deserts replace everything. Imagine the sweet and fleshy taste of mangoes, now imagine never being able to experience that again. Will you really be okay knowing that the joy of eating sweet fruits will soon become something dreamed of? We must make a change. Hydroponics will dominate our present agriculture, a limited selection of nutrition being inevitable. The agriculture of fruits and vegetables is something that we should hold dear to our hearts, and we should act to keep it as it is.
As our environment gets destroyed and our agriculture is ruined, we, too, will suffer. This drastic future is near, and we must make a change before we are beyond this point of no return. Ladies and gentlemen, I implore you to join me in action. Will you sit and let our earth be destroyed? Or will you act and make a difference? Together, we can all make a change.
